Tennis Pro:Dave Borelli
About:
• Dave Borelli is the head coach for the Texas Christian University men’s team, and he serves on the ITA and NCAA's Southwest Regional committees.
• Borelli was the head coach for the Sacramento Capitals, a professional tennis team.
• During that period he also worked as a teaching pro at Sierra Sport and Racquet Club and Copper River Country Club.
• Dave Borelli was the men's professional tour coach for the USTA, in charge of USA player development for the rookie pro Program.
• The United States Professional Tennis Association awarded Dave as Pro Of The Year in 1997.
• Dave became the 1997 United States Professional Tennis Association Pro of the Year. During his four year ATP and WTA touring coaching experience many of Dave’s players were ranked in top-100 ATP. These included Mardy Fish a 2008 US Open Semifinalist and a 2004 Olympic Silver Medalist career high 20 singles, 15 doubles ATP, Robby Ginepri career high 15 singles ATP, Brian Vahaly career high 75 singles, 88 doubles ATP and Jeff Morrison career high 85 singles, 81 doubles ATP (Florida, 1999) and Alex Kim carrier high 106 singles ATP (Stanford, 2000) on the pro tour, the Texas Christian University man’s team tennis coach.
• Dave also coached Brandon Hawk, an All-American former No. 1 player at UT.
• Dave has served as the chair of the National Collegiate Tennis coaches Committee, the Western Collegiate Athletic Association, and Pac-10 Coaches Committee and was on the board of directors for the Central California Tennis Association.
Accomplishments:
• Dave spent 14 years at USC, he led the USC women's team to 7 NCAA team titles and three runner-up finishes. Five of Dave's players won NCAA singles titles; in addition he led two doubles teams to NCAA titles. At the age of 32, Borelli became the youngest coach to win women's tennis NCAA title.
• He has brought his collegiate teams to 7 NCAA team titles.
• He was the men’s professional tour coach for the USTA, in charge of USA player development for the rookie pro program.
• Dave Borelli is going to become a member of the Tennis Hall of Fame in November of 2010.
